You must be willing to remain in your natural self. B. Your Characteristics Determine Your Team's Reputation. We win with character, not with plays; work hard to keep encouraging and rewarding its development. We must never build pyramids in our own honor. Self-serving practices will only weaken our effort. Your success will be made possible by the extremes of your personality, but these extremes are always under control. C. Morale and Discipline. Morale and discipline are central to unity, but are not always welcomed.

You want the great shooter to have his hands on the ball at the end of the game. You must show your shooters that you love them and have faith in them. (Diagram 3) Along those lines, you must have some idea of who your shooters are. Green light, yellow light, red light. This is a great way to determine who the shooters are. Know yourself and your team's strengths and weaknesses. This is really important. My staff helps me assess what we can do, what we can't do and to keep the game within these restrictions. Don't be afraid of failure. I've seen some very good coaches who, because they were afraid of failure, weren't very good coaches on game night. The ability to handle losses is really critical. A team must be able to learn and benefit from a loss. You will find out more about your team after your first loss than at any other time during the early part of the season.
