The resulting algorithm is tested numerically for the cross-range maximization problem of a re-entering Space-Shuttle glider under a reradiative heating constraint.

The tightness of the inequality constraints is shown to have a significant influence on the controllability. In the problem under consideration the controllabillity of the flight path angle which is the most sensitive quantity because of its relatively high measurement errors is more restricted for the control constrained problem than for the state constrained problem. The most important advantage of the method is that all constraints can be checked before the regenerated control program is fed back.
